 Six sigma
Six Sigma allows companies to take a more proactive approach to quality (Harry and Schroeder). Six Sigma and the implementation procedures were successfully developed by Motorola in 1985. Motorola set out to significantly improve the quality of the products it manufactured by using statistical methods to improve all aspects of operations, and produce higher quality products at a lower cost. This disproved the previous notion that quality costs more money. By 1988, Motorola had won the first-ever Malcolm Baldrige award for quality.       |
