Why Info-Security Spending May be Much Higher than you Think
As cybersecurity expert, Joseph Steinberg, explains in the accompanying video, information security spending might be significantly higher than analysts typically report.
While there are several reasons this is happening, the central issues is that a big chunk of today’s information-security related spending is not properly tracked.
In some cases, info-sec spending is lumped together with either network-related spending or application-related spending and not segmented into its own “information security expense category.” This is true not only in the consumer and small business spaces but also for many enterprise projects and budgets.
Likewise, lawyers offering information security related advice rarely classify the time for which they are billing clients as being related to information security. And in the small business and consumer spaces, figures are rarely reported to analysts even when they are tracked.
Information security professionals should be aware of the various relevant factors – so please watch the video for more details.
