From BCA Graduate to Business Analyst and AI Entrepreneur

My name is Vikash Sharma, and I hold a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree. I have always been interested in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and I pursued several courses to build my knowledge in these areas. However, despite having a strong interest and a good resume, I struggled to get shortlisted for data science and machine learning roles, as many companies preferred candidates with specialized technical degrees. This made me realize that I needed to strengthen my skills and gain industry-relevant knowledge to create better career opportunities. Today, I work as a Business Analyst at AcrossSS while also developing my own AI startup, Shrenit AI.

Although I had completed several courses in data science, I felt I needed a more structured learning experience to deepen my understanding of machine learning and AI. My BCA background had become a challenge during the job search, as I was often unable to progress to the interview stage for technical roles. I wanted to bridge this gap by gaining practical knowledge, building stronger technical capabilities, and earning a recognized certification that could help me demonstrate my skills. I also wanted to develop the confidence to apply what I learned to real-world projects and explore opportunities in the AI field.

I first learned about Simplilearn while attending a two-day AI and machine learning workshop at IIT Kanpur. During the workshop, I was introduced to various certification programs, which encouraged me to explore different learning platforms. After researching several providers and applying to multiple programs, I received a call from Simplilearn and decided to move forward with its Data Analytics program. The structured curriculum and opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge aligned best with my goal of building a strong foundation in the field and improving my career prospects.

My learning experience with Simplilearn was highly valuable, particularly because of the trainers, practical learning environment, and continuous support. One trainer who made a lasting impression on me was Shubham Pandey, whose teaching approach helped me understand complex concepts and retain what I learned. The program also gave me the opportunity to learn alongside supportive peers and work through challenging topics with guidance.

The 24/7 support team was another best part of my experience. Whenever I had questions, even late at night, I could reach out for assistance. If a technical trainer was unavailable, the team arranged sessions at a suitable time to help resolve my doubts. Practicing mock interviews helped me identify gaps in my knowledge, improve my responses, and understand where I needed further preparation.

The program helped me move from having a basic understanding of data analytics to developing stronger technical knowledge and greater confidence in my abilities. After completing the course, I began receiving more interview opportunities and getting shortlisted for roles that had previously been difficult to access. I eventually joined AcrossAssist as a Business Analyst, a role that allows me to work at the intersection of technology and business.

The knowledge I gained also motivated me to pursue entrepreneurship. I started Shrenit AI, where I applied my machine learning skills to develop an AI-powered placement assistant portal. Although I initially paused the venture to build my business and professional knowledge, I have since resumed working on my startup alongside my full-time role. Overall, the program strengthened my technical foundation, expanded my career opportunities, and gave me the confidence to turn my interest in AI into practical projects and entrepreneurial ambitions.
