Introduction

I completed my BE in Computer Science in 2021 and have more than four and a half years of professional experience. I started my career as a Technical Support Engineer, primarily working as a Windows Support Engineer for Microsoft. While this role gave me valuable experience in the support domain, I eventually felt that my learning had become limited and wanted to explore a more challenging career path. This led me to develop an interest in cloud and DevOps and eventually pursue a transition into the field.

Reason to Upskill

After around four years in technical support, I realized I wanted to move beyond the support role and build expertise in a more technology-focused domain. I was particularly interested in cloud and DevOps, but I had limited knowledge of the field when I first started exploring it. I wanted to develop the right skills through structured learning and hands-on practice rather than relying only on theoretical knowledge. My goal was to build practical expertise, gain confidence, and prepare myself for a career transition into DevOps.

Choosing Simplilearn

After researching different learning options and creating a roadmap for my transition, I chose Simplilearn’s DevOps course because it combined theoretical concepts with hands-on labs and practical learning, which looked like the best choice for me. I was looking for a structured program that would help me understand DevOps technologies while also giving me opportunities to work with them. This approach aligned well with my goal of building practical skills and preparing for the demands of a DevOps role.

Experience with the Program

My learning experience with Simplilearn’s AI-Powered DevOps Engineer Masters Program was very positive, particularly because of the hands-on approach. The course included more than 120 hours of theory and practical learning, which helped me understand DevOps concepts by actually working with the technologies. The hands-on labs provided clear, step-by-step guidance, while live sessions gave me opportunities to interact with trainers and clarify my questions. The support team was also helpful whenever I needed additional course resources. Working on practical projects and consistently progressing through the program helped me build confidence in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins pipelines, Git, and GitHub.

Impact

The biggest impact of my Simplilearn learning journey was that it helped me transition from a technical support role into DevOps Engineer. While pursuing the course, I resigned from my previous organization and started exploring better opportunities. During this period, an organization noticed my profile and hired me while I was still completing the DevOps course. The knowledge and skills I gained through the program supported me during the hiring and interview process. Today, I work as a DevOps Engineer at EY, where my understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and GitHub helps me work with greater confidence. The program gave me the practical skills and confidence to pursue the career path I had been aiming for.
