I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business. I hold a Ph.D. in Journalism and Communication from the University of Florida, and I have also pursued an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
I recently started my upskilling journey in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I took the Professional Certification Program in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in association with Purdue University from Simplilearn. Coming from a background in media and entertainment, I realized that the technology has advanced to measure the outcomes of the media business and audience response with proper analytics and tools.
The Need for Upskilling
While working in the media and entertainment industry, I realized that the business output and audience response could be analyzed with the help of AI and machine learning techniques. In today’s era, it is necessary to be up-to-date with science and technology that can help you improve your performance in the market. Therefore, I chose to upskill myself with the Professional Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning from Simplilearn, with Purdue University and IBM. I am delighted with my decision to get certified and wished I had done it earlier.
Initially, I enrolled in Simplilearn’s course to start my upskilling journey. I realized that I needed to upgrade, level up, and acquire skills and knowledge in Power BI, machine learning, Python, and other areas to have the ability to analyze current market trends using AI technology. I explored various other platforms to upskill myself.
Upon Course Completion
Simplilearn’s course turned out to be the best decisions of my life. The course taught me different aspects of AI and machine learning, like Power BI, Python, and other skills from scratch. After completing the course, I was offered a promotion with a 35 percent salary increase and a new advisory role at a marketing firm as a consultant since I had certification in AI and ML. Moreover, I can execute my knowledge in my teaching and research.
