I graduated from CRM College of Engineering & Technology as an Engineering Bachelor. Then I landed a job at Mondee. Inc, as a Quality Data Analyst. However, the company shut down due to covid-19. I utilized the opportunity to learn about more career prospects and increase my proficiency in my area of interest. Digitization has affected all the domains of the field, creating new opportunities. Working as a mechanical engineer, I also wanted to upskill in the field of Data Science. The Journey

I am a Mechanical Engineer with experience in the production department, supply chain and operations, and product planning and quality product. My Career Journey So Far

I completed my B. Tech as a civil engineer in 2019. But six months into the job, I realized I was not satisfied working in the field. How Upskilling Helps Senior Leadership

As a senior leader, you should know what your weaknesses are, and you should always choose to fill those gaps. Technology has taken a quantum leap in the last five years. There have been many changes, such as the ability to move massive amounts of data, the cloud, sharing computers across different geographies, accessing vast amounts of data, and synthesizing that data into something meaningful quickly. Although you can understand the theoretical component of it at a high level, knowing the actual technology behind it can give you a better framework of what’s possible. Knowing that is what upskilling does for anyone. 

Professionals Need to Stay on Top of Change

Yes, the expectation is that we all should seek opportunities to get better. If you are not improving yourself, you fall further and further behind daily. If you choose to upskill yourself, you already know that there is some deficit. I admit that I needed to upskill. I am in numerous business meetings where we discuss daily challenges. The challenges today are far more complex and require a significant amount of understanding. You have to know how the manipulation or acquisition of data can be applied to a given process. It can improve insights, get financial results, or help make determinations. I realized that data science is one methodology we can apply. The Journey 

I graduated from KCG College of Technology in Mechanical Engineering in 2016. Currently, I work as a Data Scientist at Ford Motor Company and live in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. I started my career by working as a Machine Learning Data Associate at Amazon in 2019. Later in June 2021, I became a Data Science Engineer at VuNet Systems. 

I am skilled in Machine Learning, Statistical Data Analysis, Machine Learning Algorithms, PostgreSQL, Data Analytics, Tableau, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL python, R (Programming Language), and RStudio. While working as a Data Engineer, I developed, built, experimented and maintained databases and large-scale processing systems. 

After nearly working for 4 years in the Machine Learning Data and Data Science Engineer field, I can feel that I am not as passionate as I used to be. As I was not getting any sense of full work satisfaction, I looked for other career opportunities. I am aware that Data Science is a thriving domain with plenty of work opportunities, so I wanted to move my career into the Data Science domain.

I’m a young professional from Fatehpur living in New Delhi with my mother and elder brother. I did my MBA in Marketing and Human Resources from IPS Business School, Jaipur, in 2021. However, being an MBA in Marketing and HR, I needed to upskill myself in data analytics to pursue it as a career path. I’m currently working as a full-time Data Analyst at one of the leading multinational companies. In my work life of 2 years, I’ve worked for several companies as a Data Analyst.

The Result

I have been a professional data analyst for around two years with various organisations.
