• What is the Certificate Programme in Sustainability?

  It is a short certificate programme delivered by expert faculty of IIT Bombay and few experienced practitioners from respective domains that introduce students to key concepts in sustainability,  environmental management, and responsible development, aligning to sustainable development  goals.

• Why enroll in the Certificate Programme in Sustainability?

  The programme is designed to develop both foundational and applied knowledge in sustainability,  enabling students to engage in contemporary environmental, social, and economic challenges. It  will help in developing critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and practical skills aligned with  evolving academic and industry standards, while also preparing them to tackle real-world issues  and enhance their prospects for future studies and career opportunities.

• Who is eligible to enroll?

  3rd year students enrolled in a 3-year undergraduate degree, 3rd and 4th year students in a 4-year  and 4-year+ degree from any discipline.

• Is there a course fee?

  No, the fee is waived off through IIT Bombay- Honeywell Centre of Excellence for Future Skills  and Innovation for limited students across India and will be opted on first come basis. 

• How do I earn a certificate?

  To earn a certificate, a minimum of 5 courses need to be completed including 3 compulsory core  courses and any 2 electives from a basket of 12 courses.

• Can I take more electives?

  Yes, additional electives are allowed to be taken through separate requests with proper justification  and for the additional courses no additional certificate will be provided.

• How to access the courses?

  All courses are going to be delivered in online mode. After enrolment verification, the students  will be provided with access to the course portal with a login id and password.

• How do I apply?

  Scan the QR code on the programme poster and fill out the registration form. Or register for the  course on the LMS platform directly.

• Is there a selection process?

  Yes, applications will be reviewed after the registration form is filled and only eligible students  will get access to these courses

• Can students from all academic backgrounds apply?

  Yes, the programme is open to all disciplines of any degree program.

• Are there any prerequisites for the course?

  No prerequisites are needed for registering for the certificate programme.

• How will this programme help my career?

  The certificate programme will help build understanding and skills in sustainability which are very  much in demand for environmental, policy, and corporate sector. Additionally, these will be useful  in addressing various challenges in day-to-day life.

• What is the duration of the certificate programme?

  For 3-year and 4-year undergraduate programmes: 

  • Final-year students: Up to 6 months after completing their degree 

  • Pre-final year students: Until the completion of their degree 

  For 4-year+ undergraduate programmes: 

  • 3rd year students: Until the end of the 4th year 

  • 4th year students: Until the end of the 5th year or completion of degree, whichever is  earlier

• What is the process of course assessment?

  The assessments may include assignments, projects, or quizzes, which are part of online modules.  There won't be any physical written or oral examinations.

• Can I get academic credit?

  No academic credits will be given for this certificate programme.

• What if I have any queries?

  A dedicated online forum or platform will be provided to address student’s queries related to  technical challenges in the program. In addition, students may submit their questions through a  Google Form, and responses will be provided by the instructors and program coordinators.
