San Francisco is a city that has been a financial and business center for a number of centuries, right from the great California Gold Rush in 1849.  Companies such as Twitter, Uber, and Salesforce have their headquarters in the city, underlining its importance. San Francisco is right in between London and Tokyo and acts as the global business center.
San Francisco was nearly fully destroyed during the devastating earthquake and fire in 1906. But the city was rebuilt very quickly and hosted international events even before a decade had passed. It has a number of tourist attractions, with about 20 million visitors coming to the city every day.
