Previously I worked as a teacher of Computer Science and later decided to change to Software Development. But to my surprise, I realized that the course I did in 2007 was no longer in use. Numerous changes in technologies have been observed since then. Despite getting a job, I knew I could not give my hundred percent because of my lack of knowledge in this field. I wanted to improve in this area of Software Development and decided to take up a course in Simplilearn.

The Journey

I Graduated from Clemson University with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. Although I did pursue a Ph.D., I couldn’t finish it. Before becoming a full-time Computer Science teacher, I did a summer internship as a research assistant at NASA and worked in numerous other internships and jobs. I had worked for almost 8 years as a teacher when I decided to try software development. I have always wanted to try this field as a professional career. Even in my bachelor days, I worked as a freelancer and continued this for some time. Finally, ITW Hartness gave me the opportunity in 2019, and I became a software developer. I work with Smith Drug and am responsible for various tasks, from identifying and evaluating to looking after applications that perform particular tasks.

The Challenge

As times have changed, many new technologies have been introduced. As I stated earlier, the degree I did in 2007 was good, but it doesn’t deliver the requirements needed in today’s technologies. So it has been difficult for me to cope with the information. Also, the job interviews I attended asked me about certain technologies I didn’t know about. So, to tackle this knowledge gap, I decided to apply for a certification course. I really needed confidence in my interviews.

I was always interested to learn about software development and so I decided to take a course in February 2021. I knew this course would help me find a better position in this sector as, in recent times, the competition in this field has been fierce. Since it was also the time of the pandemic, I thought about working on upgrading my skills. 

The Journey

I finished my graduation in 2020 in Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunication) and decided to pursue my interest in software development. I joined the course and hoped for a better learning result as I knew about the rising competition in this field. Once I completed my course, I received a placement at IKS Health, wherein I am currently working as a junior software engineer.

The Challenge

I knew from the beginning that upgrading your skills is very important if you want to get more job opportunities. And as I have always had an interest in this field of software development, I decided to explore it further, realizing the high demand for skilled professionals in the field.

It is no longer a secret that one has to constantly keep in touch with the changing dynamics of the industry, especially if it is an IT-related field. I have been working around as a professional in cybersecurity for the past few years. To achieve new heights in my career, I pursued an advanced course in the same field, and Simplilearn just made it easy for me.

The Journey

After completing my BTech in Information Technology in 2019, I immediately joined Wipro as a security analyst. My key responsibilities were to monitor the company network and report any suspicious malware. I was responsible for keeping the company environment safe and disallowing unauthorized access. I always looked forward to an MTech degree in Information technology. After completing the advanced-level cyber security course with Simplilearn, my company promoted me. I wish to explore new avenues and live the dream of being a successful cybersecurity analyst.

The Challenge 

I sought an online advanced-level cyber security course. I was looking for a course that would clear the fundamentals of cybersecurity but would not divert me from my current work area. I researched a lot of online courses. However, there was no flexibility with the pace of learning. Also, the courses available were either beginner-level or advanced-level. So, it was tough to decide which course to enroll in.

Wanting to upskill in digital marketing, I was looking for affordable courses when I came across Mastering SEO by Indic AI and Simplilearn. Upon completion of the program, I was able to upskill and get a promotion with a 25% salary increment. 

My Career Journey So Far

I got polio in my right leg at a young age, so I had to drop out of school. But my mother was determined to get me educated and helped me return to formal education. Today, I am a B. Com graduate. I completed my graduation back in 2003. I started off as a lab assistant. Since then, I have done some small jobs like Data Entry and worked in call centers as a chat support executive. 

In 2014, I joined WSI ALM as a link-building executive and have been working there ever since. After seven years, I got promoted to SEO Accounts Executive at my company after taking the Mastering SEO – Indic AI and Simplilearn course. 

The Challenge

I was already working in the digital marketing domain. But after working there for a while, I wanted to increase my knowledge in the field to perform better at my job, so I decided to upskill myself. I thought that a professional certification in the same would be extremely beneficial for me to advance my career.
