I was born and raised in Iran, earned my bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in Malaysia, and now am a director and research professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey University in Mexico. My wide travels, education, and training brought me to a prestigious position leading a team of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) experts. Our university team is training more than 11,000 faculty nationwide in AI and ML research.

However, my ­­­education background is founded in physics, chemistry, and medicine. As a physicist and chemist, I have worked in chemical engineering, and I am actively developing bio-sensors for the early diagnosis of infectious diseases. 

Our team is active in the educational field, but I believe that raising my understanding of AI and ML would give me the confidence to be a more successful leader. I resolved to learn AI and ML skills.

I enrolled in Simplilearn’s Data Science Program. I found that the knowledge and discipline the course offers provide an excellent interface between what my team does, which is in the education field, and what I can do in the healthcare and medicine fields. It is empowering to be able to guide my team and express my opinion. 

My education with Simplilearn thus far has been rewarding, and I have especially enjoyed working with my ML instructor, Mr. Amit. This experience has inspired me to start and edit an international journal on AI and ML.

The Value of Upskilling 

The knowledge I gained from the Program is a game-changer for me. I wanted to learn statistics and the types of analysis we can perform with data-generated insights.

Also, in my area of education, there is a considerable emphasis on upskilling the workforce to remain job-relevant. We are writing a lot of thought leadership materials and articles highlighting the importance of upskilling. I am even involved in a project with many Inter-American development organizations, where they commission us to upskill the southern part of Mexico.

Using Time Management 

Finding the time to study was a big challenge for me, but I managed somehow. This last semester, I had to adjust by taking weekend classes. I look forward to completing the final stage of the course, which is Tableau, Power BI, and the capstone project.

The Journey

I graduated from Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 2008 from the Government College of Engineering, Amravati. This helped me get a job as an Associate Consultant with IBM, where I worked for 7.5 years from 2008 to 2015. Realizing I wanted to give time to my family and my new baby on the way, I decided to take some time off from my career. A few years later, I decided I wanted to get back to building my career, but jobs for people with gaps in their resumes are hard to come by. While my interests lay in Data Science and Business Analytics, I got a job as a Customer Service Associate in Amazon in 2017. The best way I could get a heard start in my career would be through upskilling.

I am an IT professional who works as a shop floor support specialist at Chamberlain Group in Sonora, Mexico. I decided to upskill with Simplilearn’s ITIL® 4 Foundation Certification Training Course because he needed the ITIL certification to get promoted. Gaining ITIL Certification

I have worked in the IT industry for 15 years, and I’m currently the shop floor support specialist for the Chamberlain Group, a company that manufactures motors. I am the support specialist for all of the company’s production computers. This job required me to get an ITIL certification, leading me to Simplilearn. I studied IT engineering, and I passed in 2010. At first, I was working on my own business in the mechanical field, but I couldn’t continue that. I am an American healthcare enthusiast who has worked in the healthcare industry for more than five years. I decided to change my career path from a health expert/consultant to a project manager and, when I was given some work opportunities in project management, I found I wasn’t prepared for the role due to a lack of skills. I changed that by enrolling in the UMass Amherst Post Graduate Program in Lean Six Sigma with Simplilearn. My professional journey has been dynamic: I started working in 2011 as a resident advisor, and next worked as a nutrition and diet expert. I come from a clinical background and moved into healthcare technology later. When I was first given the opportunity to work in project management, I did not have the formal education to be successful.

I currently work as a project specialist at HP Inc. and live in Indiana. I recently emigrated to the U.S. from Nepal, where I worked in various banking positions for 14 years, and I climbed up the banking ladder from junior assistant to assistant manager.
