The Journey

I’ve spent over 16+yrs in the automotive space, working at various levels in different companies.  I worked with the likes of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, etc. My last transition was from being a Deputy Manager Research & Development at Mahindra to Tata Motors where as a Senior Manager where I worked for over six and a half years.

The potential for AI in business strategy and support is definitely a growing sector and I knew that I wanted to do something of my own in this space. However, I felt like I needed to learn a bit more to understand my company’s niche.

The Challenge

With this much potential in AI, I started looking for ideas that would offer a whole playground where I could create a unique offering for my customers. I already loved learning about new technologies in my spare time and I decided that I needed to now learn more from experts, this is what drove me to taking a course to help upskill myself so that I would understand my customers better.

My career started after completing my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Mumbai University in 2004. Two years later, I completed my post-graduate studies at Birla Institute of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Thane, then joined Caliber Point as a specialist. After working there for five years, I held various business analyst positions at companies like Aon, Wipro, and HDFC Bank.

Having worked in the same field for a few years, I felt the need to upskill myself with the latest, in-demand technical skills. I enrolled in Simplilearn’s Artificial Engineer Master’s Program and immediately reaped the benefits. Being from a non-IT background, I always struggled to learn to code and had to invest lots of time. Simplilearn’s course framework, resources, and support helped me succeed in spite of my previous difficulties. In fact, I completed the PGP and got a job in Tech Mahindra as Tech Lead in business intelligence (BI) with a salary hike of 83 percent.

After working for 12 years as a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) expert, Siddharth Pandey decided to explore his career options. He just needed to settle on a path, and he found that path through Simplilearn’s Professional certificate in AI and Machine Learning.

Working at Nagra Kudelski, Siddharth had a wealth of technical expertise doing requirement analysis, estimations, UI code design, code review, and UI component development for clients such as Foxtel, Starhub, Telefonica, TBC, and Claro Colombia.

Siddarth’s colleagues recommended taking management courses, but Siddharth wanted to continue working in the technical domain. He worked on a proof of concept project which used machine learning (ML) concepts, and he found it inspiring. He began referring to tutorials on YouTube and quickly realized it was time for him to gain formal training.

Gaining Simplilearn Training

Siddarth wasn’t looking to make a wholesale career change but was keen to incorporate his experience working in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). 

“AI is becoming more and more universal as large companies such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube use ML models for movie recommendations,” said Siddarth. He added that Alexa’s speech recognition also is powered by AI.

Simplilearn’s Professional Certificate in AI and Machine Learning, caught Siddarth’s attention. He was also attracted to the curriculum, which teaches statistics, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning.

To enroll in Simplilearn’s course, candidates need two years of work experience, a bachelor’s degree, and a basic understanding of programming concepts and mathematics.
