My name is Vivek, and I currently reside in the UK with my family. My Career Journey So Far

I did a BE in Mechatronics engineering and am pursuing a distance learning MBA program in Operations Management from Anna University, Chennai. The Journey 

I come from a hospitality background. After graduating from IHM, Hyderabad, I pursued my MBA from Amity University. I joined McDonald’s as an Assistant Manager and worked there for almost 3 years. With a good experience, I switched my job and joined Cult.fit, Hyderabad, as a Facilities Operations Manager. I recently joined Qualcomm in Hyderabad and work as a Business Systems Analyst.

The hospitality industry was hit hard when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. The industry suffered huge losses, and people were even losing their jobs. The industry is still recovering from the losses. I have been working in the hospitality industry for the past 5 years. Even after 5 years, my CTC didn’t meet my expectations, and I couldn’t see any scope for my career growth. 

I wanted to enhance my skills and have a progressive career. Around a year back, I learned about business analysis and started researching its scope. I found it to be an exciting and evolving option. So, I decided to switch my career. From working as a Facilities Operations Manager to working as a Business Analyst, my journey has been a smooth ride.

I have a dual degree of Bachelor of Science from Pune University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. I started working as an research analyst at Vayuna Voicetech Pvt. Ltd, a Nasik-based company, while completing my Post Graduation at Pune University in English Language Literature and Linguistics.

However, sadly I was rejected by them all. That’s when I learned about upskilling from my friend, who told me that it would give me a better chance at getting my dream job. The Journey

I graduated from Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 2008 from the Government College of Engineering, Amravati. This helped me get a job as an Associate Consultant with IBM, where I worked for 7.5 years from 2008 to 2015. Realizing I wanted to give time to my family and my new baby on the way, I decided to take some time off from my career. A few years later, I decided I wanted to get back to building my career, but jobs for people with gaps in their resumes are hard to come by. While my interests lay in Data Science and Business Analytics, I got a job as a Customer Service Associate in Amazon in 2017. The best way I could get a heard start in my career would be through upskilling.

I began my IT career working for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in India before moving to Canada, where I now work as a Business System Analyst for Big Erics Inc. When I arrived, I felt the need to upskill myself to stand out from the crowd and began taking courses from Simplilearn to help me reach my goals. I completed Simplilearn’s Business Analyst Master’s Program to become a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) and to pass the IIBA certification exam. At TCS, I worked in the process automation field, where my team worked with clients from the manufacturing, service, insurance, and financial sectors. When I moved to Canada to work as a business system analyst at Big Erics Inc, I felt I needed to gain a CBAP certification. I received a lot of support from Simplilearn, found their live classes and study materials beneficial, and received excellent CBAP training. I learned the project parameters, modules, and phases, and I gained a broader understanding of what the business analyst job is all about.
