This webinar will take you through all the steps needed to land your dream Big Data job.
1. Knowledge of new age datastores (NoSQL)
Datastores have been known as databases for the last 3 decades, but that’s about to change. Databases were so named because data were usually kept in structured formats. But with the advent of Big Data, the most useful data is no longer confined to a particular structure. So knowledge of new age datastores like NoSQL is a must in this day and age.
2. Knowledge of Analytical Software for Big Data like HDFS, Spark and Mahout
Knowing how to store data is important, but ultimately you will be analyzing it to meet some business requirement. This is where technologies like Hadoop and Spark come into the picture. While the HDFS component of Hadoop will help you store big data, Spark will enable you to analyze data at lightning speed.
3. Finding the right questions and validating their reliabilty.
This is where statistics is instrumental. As a Data Scientist, you will find yourself looking for useful questions using statistical techniques like the Central Limit Theorem, Hypothesis testing, Z Value, Measures of Dispersions and Central Tendencies. Quality Analysis will help you validate your conclusions using the same statistical tools.
4. Be hands on
Last but not least, be hands-on with at least one programming language. If you’re a good programmer, you will pick up on the latest developments in the Big Data world much quicker than others.
