With 33 years of Industrial experience in Manufacturing, Quality Systems, Plant commissioning, Market survey, New Product and Application development, Marketing and Sales Management and High-level customer engagement, I realised that Digital Marketing had become a dire need to thrive in the constantly evolving technical environment. Why shouldn’t I explore the zenith of online marketing, too, when I was already excelling offline? And so, I started to research for a Digital Marketing course to upskill myself and gain better knowledge of the Digital Marketing domain.

A well-defined curriculum, nicely laid study material and amazing video lessons made learning enjoyable in a friendly atmosphere. There were simple tests after every lesson to brush up on the learning. The analysis of the answers propelled knowledge. Learning was made easier with a great faculty in addition to feedback sessions and timely help from the support team. Each class feedback session brought along a willingness to improve, and I could see my domain knowledge expand.

Digital Marketing is one of the fastest-growing domains in current times. Therefore, I decided to make a career in this field only. I graduated in Business Management and then pursued MBA in Finance and Marketing. After completing higher studies, I worked as a Web Content Specialist for over 7 years, and then I felt like I should upskill myself to aim for a higher role in this industry.  

The Learning Journey

As an IT professional, I have always emphasized how essential learning is, especially in my career. In 2020, when the pandemic started, everyone was doing online courses in their desired fields. I worked for HCL as a Team Lead, and my company wanted me to upskill for a project. I found a well-fit course at Simplilearn and new opportunities came my way. 

My Learning Journey  

But the question was where to pursue this popular IT certification. A friend recommended Simplilearn and when I saw their course curriculum, I found it perfect for my learning style. So, I chose Simplilearn’s ITIL 4 Foundation Certification, which equipped me with the skills to comprehend my client’s needs in this project. Since completing my bachelor’s in hotel management from the PES Institute of Hotel Management in Bangalore, I have held various jobs in different industries. I first worked with Kingfisher Airlines as a guest service agent. In 2009, I switched to a sales career and joined Virgin Mobile India as a territory sales manager. Later, after holding various jobs, I became the director of business development for iBizzo.com, a B2B E-marketplace PAN India catering to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). My role at iBizzo.com involves business expansion, customer acquisition and retention, budgeting, and sales forecasting.

Working in the e-commerce industry involves a considerable amount of technology and innovation. Although I have more than a dozen years of sales experience, I needed to upskill myself in digital marketing and learn more about marketing as a whole since I once had started my own venture.

I have worked in the drilling and mining industry for 22 years. I’m originally from Zimbabwe, but my work takes me to India, Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, and many other places around the globe. I’ve been stationed in Congo for the past two years, working as an expat technical support coordinator at Sandvik Mining & Construction. I enrolled in Simplilearn’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Course because I wanted to upskill myself, get out of my comfort zone and improve my work. The skills I acquired through Simplilearn are proving beneficial. The course showed me methods to measure company performance, pinpoint issues, and help solve those issues. 

I also received a 25 percent salary hike and new projects after completing the course. The experience prompted me to refer three colleagues to take the course from Simplilearn. 

A Talent for Team Building 

I have been managing, building, and training teams throughout my career, and I have a team of general supervisors and shift supervisors reporting to me. My job is to provide project support with on-site equipment and train local workers. As a technical support coordinator, one of my roles is to help others upgrade their skills and teach them how to accomplish tasks properly. 

Building teams is what I do. In a prior role, I began a project with five people and grew the team to 45 people. While managing a project in a remote mine in Botswana, we started with five workers and developed it into a 60-worker team. The project turned out to be a huge success.

Simplilearn Improves Presentation and Technical Skills

After completing Simplilearn’s course, I have improved my presentation and technical skills. We face a lot of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) challenges, such as performing root cause analysis, managing performance through data, and improving the relationship between the client and the OEMs. Because of the skills I acquired while taking this course, I now can understand work processes much better and start implementing new ways of working on completing day-to-day tasks.

My overall experience with Simplilearn was excellent. Initially, I thought the course would be challenging, but because of the comprehensive material and proper training, I found the course accessible and easy to complete.
