As more professionals choose to grow their skill sets, whether to supplement their college education or enter career fields that didn’t exist 20 years ago, the more the demand grows for online training in today’s technology fields.  Statistics show that 6.3 million students in the U.S. enrolled in online courses in 2016, and that number continues to grow annually.

The more complicated a field, the higher the expectations are for online learning. Complex topics require experience, personal reaction, conversation. A recent survey from Harris Interactive showed that a majority of Americans prefer hands-on training when it comes to learning something new. When you’re learning virtually, hands-on learning can be limited in a lot of cases.

At Simplilearn, we’re changing that with Practice Labs and Interactive Projects. These hands-on learning tools are available in more than 40 of our most popular programming and cloud courses to provide a classroom experience that reinforces applying and retaining new skills.

What Are Practice Labs?

With our interactive approach, practice labs allow students to follow along in real time with their instructors from the first lesson, truly turning their online course into a live learning experience and what feels like a traditional classroom setting. The labs, which are accessible right from the Learning Management System, allow students to practice their new coding skills as it’s being taught, and deliver instant results, with no set-up, downloads or additional software required. This allows students to seamlessly practice and understand what part of the coding process they’re doing correctly, and what parts they need to go back and work on.

When a live virtual classroom session has ended, the lab remains open so that students can continue to practice their coding as needed Unlimited access to the Learning Management System allows you to practice when it’s most convenient for you and without instructor interference. This can allow you to keep working on your coding until you’re confident you’ve perfected it.

What Are Interactive Projects?

Each course offers multiple interactive projects, where students can put their new skills to the test. Each project provides you with a detailed scenario that challenges you to hone your skills by solving life-like issues. You’ll instantly receive an auto-generated report after submitting your project that shows final results and code deficiencies so you can monitor improvement from project to project. Teaching assistants are readily available for extra help when needed.

Our rich cloud-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE)  allows the learner to submit solutions and see code errors instantly. Students also receive a code quality score that can tell them what areas they should concentrate on more, and which ones they’ve mastered.

Simplilearn’s programming courses are designed to do more than just teach the terminology. The labs encourage learners to put their skills into practice when it’s fresh, helping to retain those lessons long after the course is complete.

Some of the courses that feature practice labs and interactive projects include training in Core Java, SQL, Scala, Machine Learning, Python, AWS Developer, and many others. Browse our full list of programming courses to learn more about the online education programs we offer and to get started.
