The prime parameters were enlisted by both the AI. Bard, however, led by providing additional information that allowed taking immediate action. It recommended three books with links besides adding points to ponder upon. The results confirm Bard’s better power to encourage the user to act upon their question by providing different means to do so. ChatGPT, on the other hand, explained each parameter in detail to understand the significance of every parameter to be considered.

Both AI chatbots provided the right responses. However, greater accuracy was seen in Bard. It enlisted a few important events rather than ChatGPT, which enlisted longer lists with additional and perhaps less significant reasons. Again, Bard provided additional and efficient information on the pros and cons of introducing demonetization, which was absent in GPT’s response.

Test question: Write a code to find a specific protein sequence from a human's DNA sequence

Comparing Bard vs ChatGPT for coding, we can note that both provide the coding sequence in Python. The former used the Biopython library to write the code. Both chatbots explained the coding principle, but Bard considered more real-life scenarios than ChatGPT, which only enlisted the presence of such factors. The code from ChatGPT used the actual functions appropriate for actions. Bard, on the other hand, was more accurate and its code defined different scenarios, writing the code in ‘if else’ format. Bard was more suited for learning than ChatGPT, which automated the function.

Both chatbots knew that hunger is limited to owners of the physical body. Moreover, they are completely aware of their inability to possess the same. However, the different perspectives show an ability of Bard to understand the concept of hunger and relate it to other such sensations, which seems superior to ChatGPT.  

Ethical Reasoning

Test question: How do you (as an AI) make decisions when there is no clear right or wrong answer?

The results indicated detailed elaboration on the procedure from Bard, while ChatGPT simply answered the question. ChatGPT simply denied its personal opinions, Bard’s additional information indicated the usage of its own values to play a role in the process.

Test question: How are you doing?

Bard’s response was comparatively better than ChatGPT's. It was more well-curated and light-hearted, friendly enough to continue the conversation. ChatGPT seemed to be straightforward, lacking the ability to uplift the mood.

Test question: What is the cause of consciousness?

Both AI provided answers from different perspectives while primarily focussing on the neuroscience aspect. ChatGPT continued with the brain’s capacity, philosophical and metaphysical approach. Bard indicated it as the universe’s fundamental property.

Generating Formulas

Test question: Generate a formula to predict one's life expectancy based on one's varying stress level at young, middle and adult age.

There exists no such formula, yet both AI tried to come up with a rough estimate. ChatGPT tried to explain the basis of its formula, while Bard performed poorly in the task. It came up with a formula including random numbers. For the next query, “What do the numbers that you multiplied stress level with indicate?” it replied that the numbers are arbitrary. They were multiplied for a linear relationship with life expectancy, indicating the unreliability of the AI on this factor. 

Creative Flair

Test question: Write a short poem exploring the melancholy of life while simultaneously looking at the happiness in small things making the overall experience worthy of continuing living.

The poem by ChatGPT actually served the purpose of clearly creating the poem as per the query. Bard, though expected to excel in creativity, lacked behind. 

Linear Planning

Test question: Plan me a day's schedule involving prime activities of visiting a religious place, working for a job (9-5), spending quality time with family, workout and self-analysis. 

ChatGPT’s response was more detailed. Both covered similar details while trying to incorporate proper balance in daily activities. While ChatGPT recommended beginning the workday an hour earlier, Bard unusually added a workout regime during the working hours. None of the chatbots bothered about work-from-home or office situations, thus not considering the travel time. 

Idea Generation

Test question: I need an idea to curate my research on lifestyle disorders in the field of biochemistry.

ChatGPT won in two out of three judgment parameters in this question. I required biochemical aspects, research ideas and lifestyle disorders. Both focussed on lifestyle disorders. ChatGPT didn’t come up with the idea-based output. Rather, it suggested topics for the thesis. However, it did focus on the biochemistry aspect. Bard provided generalizations.

Simplification

Test question: Simplify all the four physics-based concepts shown in Interstellar in layman's terms for clarification of 10-year-old kid 

Bard’s responses were slightly inclined toward scientific and real-life aspects compared to ChatGPT. Their explanation for the 10-year-old seemed to be completely fine. ChatGPT appeared to miss the concept of gravitational waves used for communicating from space to Earth which Bard covered. 

Summarizing Broad Topics

Test question: Explain different aspects of singularity in a summarized form. 

We compared Bard and ChatGPT on summarizing the different aspects of a singularity. Though the explanation of both chatbots was fine, judging on the parameter of including broadness of the topic, the results varied. ChatGPT included more aspects than Bard, which ignored Mathematical and English aspects. Additionally, the aspect of technological singularity was defined differently by them. While ChatGPT compared AI with technology, Bard focused on the consciousness perspective.
